Manuscript Preparation
Manuscript structure
Original Articles should generally follow this structure, in order:
- Title page (submitted separately from the manuscript body — see anonymization below)
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgments
- Author Contributions
- Funding
- Ethics Statement
- Informed Consent (where applicable)
- Data Availability
- Conflicts of Interest
- References
- Supplementary Materials (where applicable)
Other article types (Review, Case Report, Technical Note, Short Communication) follow the same general logic with sections adapted to their content — a Case Report replaces Methods and Results with a Case Presentation, for example.
Formatting
Specific formatting requirements — word limits per article type and detailed figure and table formatting — will be published here once finalized. The reference style, however, is confirmed: MPJ uses the Vancouver style — see Author Guidelines for the full requirements and example references.
The official MPJ manuscript template applies this structure and includes formatting guidance for units, equations, figures, tables, and statistical reporting:

Preparing an anonymized manuscript
MPJ uses double-anonymized peer review. Author-identifying information belongs on the separate title page (see the MPJ manuscript template) and is not included in the manuscript file sent to reviewers. Before submitting, check the manuscript body for:
- Author names, affiliations, and contact details anywhere outside the title page.
- Acknowledgments or funding statements that name individuals, institutions, or grants specific enough to identify the author group.
- Self-citation phrased in a way that identifies the authors (“as we previously reported”) — cite such work in the third person instead.
- Author name or institution embedded in the file’s document properties or metadata.
- Tracked changes, comments, or version history left in the file.
- Identifying information in filenames or supplementary files.
The editorial technical check reviews submissions for these issues before they reach reviewers, but this is a safeguard, not a substitute for the author’s own care — and no anonymization process can guarantee that identity can never be inferred from a manuscript’s content.
Files
Submit the anonymized manuscript file, any figures and tables, and supplementary materials as separate files. Accepted file types and size limits will be published here once finalized.
